Iowa Smoking Age would Rise to 19 Under Senate bill
An Iowa Senate subcommittee to the Senate Education Committee has tabled a bill that proposes to raise the age to buy tobacco in Iowa to 19 from the current 18 years. The bill aims to keep cigarettes and other tobacco products out of the state’s high schools and to curb smoking among teenagers.
The more that we can limit access at a vulnerable age, the more in the end that we will be successful at getting kids ever hooked on this deadly habit.

Va. Bill Passes to Require Child-Proofing for E-Cigs
A bill passed by the House of Delegates will require that all Electronic cigarettes sold in Virginia have child-resistant packaging. The bill which is awaiting approval from the Senate prohibits the sale of e-cigs in Virginia without the childproof packaging and also requires that all e-cigs carry labels warning that they are not safe for children and should therefore be kept out of their reach.
